Anti-Racism Training for Sustainability Professionals

LMHQ

December 15, 2021

06:00 PM EST

As we begin to look toward the new year, there is no better time to recommit to creating a more equitable workplace. The first step? Building your anti-racism toolkit.

Join LMHQ and the Bard MBA in Sustainability program for an in-person workshop exploring the concepts of anti-racism, intersectionality, systemic racism, and the system of white supremacy. Attendees will also specifically examine how anti-racist leadership practices are critical for business leaders in the sustainability field and beyond.

By the end of this prerequisite, students will be able to:

  • Distinguish between non-racist and anti-racist stance
  • Identify the ways systemic/structural racism contributes to racial inequities that limit and/or prevent equal access and opportunities
  • Understand how anti-racist leadership practices are critical for the sustainability field

The workshop is designed for both current sustainability professionals and those interested in working in the sustainability field.

About Our Workshop Leader:

Judy Pryor-Ramirez is an Assistant Dean, Bard MBA in Sustainability, and faculty member in leadership with a focus on racial justice. She is the founder and principal of an organizational development consultancy that specializes in serving small and newly formed social change organizations led by BIPOC executives and leadership initiatives at higher education institutions. Judy’s perspective on business, leadership, and racial justice is informed by her experience as a small business owner, two-time former executive director, and prior work in multiple institutional contexts — from government and nonprofit to academia.

Judy is the co-author of two racial justice digital humanities projects: Brooklyn Historical Society’s Crossing Borders, Bridging Generations curriculum project (2015) and Emerson College's Hidden Figures Syllabus project (2017).
